You can use MongoDB for free to explore the basic configuration of the software or choose a subscription plan for advanced features and gain access to the various administrative privileges and billing options. When not required, you can stop payments and cancel their services.

Steps to Take Before Cancelling

If you are an active user of the MongoDB account, you will have to delete your Atlas account associated with the database deployments.

So, keep in mind the following things:

You can cancel your MongoDB subscription anytime you want.
Before you cancel the subscription, make sure you do not have any outstanding amount to be paid, or else your request won’t make it through.
If you cancel or lower your paid subscription status, your invoicing will continue for the term of your contract.
If you want to terminate your MongoDB account completely, make a backup of your content and data beforehand.
Once you deactivate the Atlas account on MongoDB, you won’t be able to reactivate that account or create a new account with the same username or password.
You’ll receive a message showing non-renewal to manage your account invoicing, including the activation contract conditions and cancellation date, when you close your MongoDB account. Your account is reduced to a free program, which MongoDB may deactivate, and all your data is erased on the cancellation date.

What Happens to Your Account When You Close It

When you cancel your MongoDB account, your data, projects, and all the other details regarding your account are deleted and cannot be recovered. However, you can make a backup of your data before suspending the services.

You won’t be able to access your account once you delete the MongoDB account or use the same username when you want to use its services again.

Canceling MongoDB

Click on your profile in the top right corner and go to “Account and Billing” from there.

The number of datasets for the subscription will be displayed in the subscription list. This must be zero before the subscription is deleted.

Select the desired subscription from the list if you have several subscriptions.

Go to the overview tab and then select “Cancel Subscription”.

Finally, select the confirm button to cancel your subscription. A message will appear on your screen acknowledging that your subscription has been canceled.
