Steps to Take Before Cancelling

When canceling your Google Workspace account, it is important to back up everything in your Google account. This can be e-mails, contacts, and any files that may be stored in Google that you might need in the future. Google allows you to download and export all user data with the data export tool. However, it is essential to remember that canceling your Google Workspace account does not delete user accounts, groups, or organizational structures. This will only occur if you delete your Google account.

Note that Google will start deleting your data after 51 days of the account being canceled. Additionally, you should delete any Google Workspace apps that you have purchased. Every Google Workspace plan includes Gmail, Drive, Meet, Calendar, Chat, Jamboard, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Keep, Sites, and Forms apps. Additionally, you may have documents or data stored in the cloud, which you need to backup before canceling.

What Happens to Your Account When You Close It

When you cancel your Google Workspace account, your Google Workspace account data will be deleted. Therefore, it is vital to back up any data that you have stored in your workspace account. As mentioned before, any data stored in your Google account will remain intact. However, it is crucial to keep a backup of everything just in case.

You will be charged at the start of the month after you cancel the subscription if you have any outstanding charges in your account. If you signed up for the flexible plan, you would be charged for the days that you used the service that month. When it comes to the annual plan, you will be charged the remaining balance of your contract. If you purchased the essentials plan, you would be charged the total monthly cost for every active user in that month.

Canceling Google Workspace

Sign in to your Google Domains Admin account

Click on the name of your domain

On the admin console, go to “billing and manage subscriptions”

Select a reason for canceling the plan and click “continue”

Check the box to confirm you read the information and that you want to continue with the cancelation process.

Enter your email address and click “cancel my subscription”

Email Notification

You will receive a notification that your subscription was canceled to the email address you provided Google. Additionally, any invoice of outstanding charges will be sent to that email along with any other necessary information. You can resubscribe to Workspace at any time via your Google account.
