Human capital management (HCM) is the set of practices and software used for recruiting, managing, and developing an organization’s human capital—aka its workforce.

A human resource management system (or HRMS) is used to digitalize, automate, and centralize core HR processes, such as employee data storage, benefits administration, time and attendance, and payroll.
